Get Started Learning OpenPublish

  • Installing OpenPublish

OpenPublish is a packaged distribution of Drupal. The collection of modules and customizations is aimed at online publishers. Once the platform is installed, the implementer will have a working web site geared for the news and publishing industry. The simple installation of OpenPublish is not the end of the process. The site must be configured, customized and designed to suit the needs of a specific organization. This section outlines the steps involved with setting up and configuring a custom web site using OpenPublish.

  • OpenPublish User Documentation

The simple installation of OpenPublish is not the end of the process. The site must be configured, customized and designed to suit the needs of a specific organization. It is also important to have a solid understanding of the workflow associated with managing content in OpenPublish, as there are a number of important differences compared to a standard Drupal core implementation.

  • Theming OpenPublish

OpenPublish comes with its own simple theme, but it is not intended to serve as an actual design for any web site. You need to create a sub-theme, which will look like base theme initially, and start adjusting it to fit your branding. Once an implementer has setup, configured, and customized their OpenPublish installation it is ready for a new face. Designers and developers can create custom layouts, views, design elements, and style sheets.

  • DO-IT-YOURSELF TUTORIALS

A set of tutorials, describing solutions to common problems. Typically these problems are either not generic enough to end-up in the product per-se, or the solutions are too specific for the product, or we are putting a solution out for community review before incorporating into the product. Either way, these are the gems that cut-down the time needed to implement OpenPublish.
