What is OpenPublish?
OpenPublish is a Drupal distribution tailored to the needs of online publishers.
Drupal is a popular open source content management framework known for its flexibility and for its rich functionality, made possible by thousands of free, contributed modules. "Plugging" these modules into the framework makes it possible to create powerful, feature-rich websites, faster and more easily than if you'd started from scratch. But choosing and configuring the appropriate modules for your needs is a challenge: with thousands to choose from, Drupal's menu of options can feel daunting.
Drupal "distributions" ease this complexity. Distributions are packaged and pre-configured sets of functionality for specific use-cases, such as "online news publishing" or "government data publishing." Distributions are supported at every level of Drupal , so there's nothing "hacky" about them: they are first-level citizens of the Drupal eco-system, fully supported and embraced by Drupal community.
OpenPublish is a Drupal distribution for online publishers, created by Phase2 Technology, with support from Thomson Reuters. It is based on years of experience building Drupal-based websites for various online media outlets. It is also a community product: continually used, tested and improved upon by a lively OpenPublish community.
